Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corporation

Rupert Murdoch is an Australian-born American newspaper publisher and media entrepreneur who founded the global media holding company the News Corporation Ltd. After the passing of his father in 1952, Rupert Murdoch chose not to join his late father's public company but instead established his own private firm. This decision granted Murdoch complete authority as the Chairman and CEO of News Corporation, a global media company that has since grown to become the second-largest media conglomerate worldwide. Today, its successors, News Corp and 21st Century Fox, continue to carry forward Murdoch's legacy. Following the resignation of Roger Ailes in 2016, Murdoch assumed the role of CEO at Fox News. That same year, Forbes recognized Rupert Murdoch & Family as the 35th most powerful individuals in the world. In a remarkable restructuring move in December 2017, Murdoch orchestrated a $66 billion deal with Disney, resulting in the majority of 21st Century Fox being acquired by the entertainment giant. Murdoch confidently stated that this strategic maneuver would pave the way for fresh business prospects. Murdoch studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Worcester College, Oxford, in England, where he kept a bust of Lenin in his rooms and came to be known as "Red Rupert".
