Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus.

Guillaume Faury was appointed Airbus Chief Executive Officer in April 2019 and leads the Company’s Executive Committee. Before becoming CEO, Faury served as President of Airbus’ commercial aircraft business, and prior to that, he was CEO of Airbus Helicopters from 2013 to 2018, where his achievements included restructuring manufacturing systems and introducing new technologies. Under Faury’s leadership, Airbus has navigated significant challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, guiding the company through recovery while focusing on developing environmentally friendly hydrogen-powered aircraft. He is also responsible for managing A320neo production challenges and finalizing A400M negotiations. His leadership style is characterized by a global outlook, extensive operational experience, strong personal values, and direct leadership. Faury began his career in 1992 as a flight-test engineer for the Eurocopter Tiger helicopter in the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA), the French government agency responsible for defence procurement and technology. He then had a first spell at Airbus (then operating as Eurocopter) from 1998 to 2008, holding various leadership positions in engineering, programmes and flight testing, becoming Executive Vice President for Programmes and a Member of the Eurocopter Executive Committee, before being appointed Executive Director for Research and Development. Prior to his latest Airbus stint, Faury spent four years in the automotive industry with Peugeot (2009-2013), rising to become Executive Vice President for Research and Development and a Member of the Managing Board. Faury’s passion for aviation dates back to his childhood; he is a qualified light aircraft pilot and helicopter flight test engineer with some 1,300 flight hours. He graduated from l’École Polytechnique in Paris, and subsequently from l’École Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace in Toulouse. In addition to his role at Airbus, Faury serves on the Board of Directors of AXA.
