David Cordani assumed the role of President and CEO of Cigna in 2009, driving its transformation into a global health service powerhouse. Under his guidance, the company's size doubled within six years. Cordani has emerged as a prominent advocate, tackling critical health challenges. He emphasizes empowering individuals to take charge of their own well-being, pioneering innovative health delivery models centered on patient improvement, and fostering partnerships with physicians to prioritize wellness and enhance clinical quality. With a presence in over 30 countries and a workforce of around 43,000, Cordani leads Cigna in its mission to enhance the health, well-being, and peace of mind for over 95 million customer relationships. Having joined Cigna in 1991, Cordani possesses a wealth of leadership expertise spanning critical domains in healthcare services, encompassing distribution, marketing, clinical management, underwriting, finance, and operations. Before his tenure at Cigna, Cordani contributed his skills at Coopers & Lybrand. He actively engages with the Achilles International Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans and serves as a charter board member for ChildObesity180. His philanthropic endeavors extend to supporting organizations like March of Dimes and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Reflecting the Cordani family's deep commitment to community health and well-being, he established The David and Sherry Cordani Family Foundation. Beyond his professional achievements, Cordani excels as a triathlete, having completed over 125 triathlons. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M and an MBA from the University of Hartford.
