Dr. Albert Bourla, Chairman & CEO od Pfizer

Albert Bourla, Chairman and CEO of Pfizer, leads with purpose, driving breakthroughs that transform patients' lives. With over 30 years at Pfizer, his diverse career spans global markets and disciplines. His global experience fosters a deep understanding of patient needs and healthcare systems, fueling his commitment to equitable access to medicines and vaccines. Since assuming the role of CEO in January 2019, Albert has propelled Pfizer's transformation into a science-driven, innovative company. This includes divesting consumer and off-patent products businesses while significantly increasing investments in R&D and digital innovation. To cultivate a thriving culture, Albert and his leadership team established Pfizer's Purpose Blueprint, anchored by core values of courage, excellence, equity, and joy. Pfizer's response to the pandemic showcased its capabilities and culture under Albert Bourla's leadership. Without accepting public funding, the company invested over $2 billion at-risk, inspiring colleagues to develop a safe and effective vaccine in just eight months—a process typically taking 8-10 years—without compromising quality. Albert reinforced Pfizer's commitment to ESG principles, issuing the industry's first Sustainability Bond, launching the company's inaugural ESG report, and conducting a comprehensive priority issue assessment for long-term impact. Albert, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a Ph.D. in Biotechnology of Reproduction, received recognition as the 2022 Genesis Prize Laureate for his pandemic leadership. He was named CNN Business's CEO of the Year, featured in Insider Magazine's Most Transformative CEOs list, and inducted into the Crain's New York Business 2021 Hall of Fame. Albert received the Appeal of Conscience Award and The Atlantic Council's Distinguished Business Leadership Award for Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine efforts. He serves on multiple boards, including Pfizer Inc., The Pfizer Foundation, PhRMA, and Catalyst, and is a Trustee of the United States Council for International Business. Albert's affiliations include the Council on Foreign Relations, Business Roundtable, Business Council, and the New York City Mayor's Corporate Council.
